DSHooper of May: Kirsty Chambers
Level 1 - Hill Rise Hall
Hey I’m Kirsty, I’m a home carer and now a hoop addict :D

When did you start
hoopdancing? & Why did you think it is a good idea?
I started in February
2010, it looked like an awesome skill to learn and I wasn’t wrong, lol.
Did you find the
beginning easy? Did you ever think you would get to hoopdance as well as you
do now?
To begin with in the first couple of weeks it was a
bit strange, but after that it was a lot easier to pick moves up, well some
anyway. Others haven’t been so easy but have been worth the bruises.
Has hoopdance
changed anything in your life?
I find hooping lets
you release happy vibes that are very addictive to other people, like my
partner has picked up the hoop quite a few times, and it is very social, I
feel healthier but don’t know about the dress size :$
Do you often get
frustrated when things do not work with the hoop? How do you get over that
frustration? What motivates you to keep trying?
Motivation to keep going is the sense of feeling I
get when I conquer a move. There have been times when I have been frustrated.
But I will go on to something different and then go back to it, and that normally
makes such a difference.
How much time do
you spend hooping? (a day or a week)
Depends on how my
week of work is, I hoop on my breaks and in the evening so quite a lot.
Have you achieved
any of your goals that you had before signing up for the first class? Did you
have any expectations?
No didn’t have expectations, but my goal was to not
give up, which I’m glad I haven’t as it is absolutely awesome.
Have you got any
favourite moves or any that you particularly dislike? Any really really
frustrating ones?
I like the kick
start witch I learned last week, painful but sense of satisfaction when did
it, and I like leg hooping, I probably also dislike the leg hooping as well
because of all the cuts and bruises on my face hehe. But in general I love
doing all of it.
Would you recommend
hoopdance to others? What is your advice to those who are just at the
beginning of their hoopdance experience?
Yeah I have said to many people they should do it :D
and basically just to keep trying at it because you will succeed, don’t give
up because you don’t get something right.
You will do, it just takes time. And do PRACTICE, as much as you can as that
makes a hell of a difference.

My comments: Kirsty makes foot & leg hooping look ever so effortless & her attention to detail is second to none. Her style is very clean which results in perfect technique. When I watch her hoopdancing she reminds me of what I was like when I started hooping. Her moves are very organised & I just cannot believe how modest she is - the best quality in a hoopdancer!!! If we get over-confident we stop learning - that is what will never happen to Kirsty. Her wonderful personality & amazing skills will definitely provide a perfect platform for whatever she aspires to do with hoopdance.
